Saved Mail Filters – A Complete Guide

Saved Mail Filters are a powerful feature of Clear Mail that are often overlooked by most users. Saved Mail Filters help you quickly find the emails you care about—without retyping the same Gmail search text again and again.

If you often search for the same kind of emails (for example: calendar alerts, job alerts, or messages from a specific sender), Saved Mail Filters tab lets you save those searches and reuse them instantly.

When you first install Clear Mail, you will have 4 sample Saved Mail Filters available in the Saved Mail Filters tab for trial purposes.

What is a Saved Mail Filter?

A Saved Mail Filter is a saved Gmail search query inside Clear Mail.

Think of it like a bookmark for Gmail search:

  • It stores the exact Gmail search text
  • You can apply it by double clicking on a particular Filter within the Saved Mail Filters tab
  • The search text is automatically placed into Gmail’s search bar and the search run

Clear Mail does not move, delete, or modify your emails—it simply helps you search faster using Saved Mail Filters.

Example Saved Mail Filters

Here are some common examples:

  • from:colleague@company.com
  • label:work is:unread
  • subject:You have no events scheduled today
  • has:attachment

Example Use cases

I get Google calendar notifications every day that notify me about events scheduled for that day. If there are no events scheduled for that day, I get a notification that says "You have no events scheduled today". Over time, these emails accumulate and clutter my inbox.

I created a Saved Mail Filter for this:
subject:You have no events scheduled today

I use this Saved Mail Filter frequently to filter all Google Calendar emails with this subject. And then I hit 'Delete All on Page' button to quickly delete them all.

Another use case I have is to filter all credit card statements from a bank. My filter simply looks like:
< bank name > credit card statement

This helps me quickly filter all my credit card statements from my bank and check my monthly spending and pay my bill before the due date.

Future enhancements coming on Saved Mail Filters

  • Ability to quickly save a Mail Filter from the Clear Mail tab to Saved Mail Filters tab
  • Ability to save a Saved Mail Filter directly from user's Gmail search bar - without needing to manually Add a new Saved Mail Filter.
